Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters

Security Clearance: Special Requirements: ***Potential Hybrid Position*** Experience with the overhaul, repair, maintenance, or modernization of propulsion plant machinery and piping systems on US Navy aircraft carriers would be preferred. This position could also benefit from experience with similar systems and components on other ships or commercial power plants, such as: steam-driven and/or motor-driven pumps; valves; turbines; generators; diesel and/or steam engines; shafting; propellers; heat exchangers/condensers; distilling and potable water systems; air compressors; and steam, seawater, water, air, and oil piping systems. This position will require the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production, installation, and operational problems of complex machinery and systems. Strong communication skills and ability to liaison with suppliers, production personnel, ship's force personnel, construction management, program management, Navy oversight personnel, and members within the value stream are essential. NNS is requiring all management with leased labor resources that may work from home or an alternate non-NNS work location in any capacity to fill out the Leased Labor Flexible Office Agreement Request form. This requirement is for management with both current and future leased labor resources. The request must go through the proper signature approvals before the employee is allowed to work at the Alternate Non-NNS work location. If a leased labor resource indicates a foreign national is present in the alternate non-NNS work location, O15 Security Compliance must evaluate the Flexible Office Agreement request and provide approval/denial. Based on OPNAVINST N9210.3 “Safeguarding of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI)”, NNS is contractually mandated to protect NNPI from potential unauthorized disclosure. Access to NNPI are limited to U.S. Citizens with a need to know. This includes prohibiting access to Foreign Nationals. For the purposes of NNPI, a Foreign National is anyone who is not a U.S. Citizen.
