Job Description
NSC Technologies is currently hiring a Engineer Electrical 2 in Newport News, Virginia. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience OR Master’s degree and 0 years’ experience OR PDP apprentice certificate and 1 year of engineering experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Security Clearance: Special Requirements: **May consider part-time telework Experience in the application of project management techniques Shipbuilding experience Previous NAVY experience What are the top 3 items the Hiring Manager is looking for?: Strong in written and verbal communication Knowledgeable of electrical distribution systems Knowledgeable of instrumentation and control systems Why is this position open / needed?: Additional manning required to combat attritions and the inability to hire via other means (i.e. no candidates applying to our NNS reqs) Clearance Level: Confidential Will this position require travel?: No Yardwide Access: Yes Required PPE: Ear Muffs, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots Is there an elevator in the main work site building?: Yes Remote work an option in lieu of being onsite: Part-time Flexible Office Policy & Procedure: With the increased demand to work from home, the risk of potential unauthorized exposure has increased with leased labor that have Foreign Nationals in the household. NNS is requiring all management with leased labor resources that may work from home or an alternate non-NNS work location in any capacity to fill out the Leased Labor Flexible Office Agreement Request form. This requirement is for management with both current and future leased labor resources. The request must go through the proper signature approvals before the employee is allowed to work at the Alternate Non-NNS work location. If a leased labor resource indicates a foreign national is present in the alternate non-NNS work location, O15 Security Compliance must evaluate the Flexible Office Agreement request and provide approval/denial. Based on OPNAVINST N9210.3 “Safeguarding of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI)”, NNS is contractually mandated to protect NNPI from potential unauthorized disclosure. Access to NNPI are limited to U.S. Citizens with a need to know. This includes prohibiting access to Foreign Nationals. For the purposes of NNPI, a Foreign National is anyone who is not a U.S. Citizen.
