Position: SHIPYARD RIGGER
Location: San Diego, CA

Responsibilities of the SHIPYARD RIGGER

  • Operate chain falls, hand chain hoists (come alongs), and other equipment to safely and efficiently move equipment such as motors, valves, electronics, and other ships force equipment from space to space on Navy ships, shop, or other areas on the shipyard
  • Perform basic rigging evolutions with minimal supervision
  • Communicate with crane operators and understand standard hand and whistle signals to safely move material from point to point
  • Demonstrate knowledge of WAF and Tag Out systems requirements necessary to safely perform work


Requirements of the SHIPYARD RIGGER

  • 3-5+ years experience in rigging operations within the marine/shipyard industry or experience acquired in the US Navy
  • Must demonstrate knowledge working with general hand tools and rigging equipment
  • Must demonstrate ability to use appropriate signals
  • Must be able to apply safe rigging practices at all times
  • Ability to inspect own rigging gear according to safety rules and OSHA


Employment is contingent upon the ability to pass background screening
to obtain a DOD DBIDS Credential
